VIR Named Among Top Six Road Courses in United States |
|
Danville, VA - (July 8, 2010) Car & Driver magazine's current issue has an article on the best 6 road courses in the US. Not surprisingly to many, but still not taking it for granted, VIR was named to this most prestigious list. Of over 100 road courses in the US, this puts VIR at the very top echelon of permanent road race facilities in the country.
"We are very pleased to be included in this very select group," said Josh Lief, General Manager of VIRginia International Raceway. "From the land owners and builders of VIR back in the 1950s, to Harvey Siegel and Connie Nyholm that resurrected the racetrack and made it America's Motorsport Resort, and all those that work at VIR, we feel honored to be included in this list."
The recently published article features an overview of the track's beginnings as well as a detailed turn-by-turn overview of the entire course with the best places to watch, "scary corners "and the current track record. The article can be viewed in its entirety by clicking here.

From the first time I drove my street car around VIR to experiencing my first race win last October with NASA, VIR has held a very special please in my heart. Each lap is thrilling, challenging and wonderfully satisfying. Thank you for re-iniventing one of our countries greatest racing facilities!
