Bob Ingram to Serve as Grand Marshal for Oak Tree Grand Prix

TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Visits the Weekend of Aug. 22-24

VIRginia International Raceway, located at the North Carolina-Virginia border, is preparing for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and Oak Tree Grand Prix later this month. Local Durham resident and Porsche enthusiast Bob Ingram will play an important part of race weekend, serving as Grand Marshal for the marquis event.

Bob Ingram is the former CEO of GlaxoSmithKline and current Chairman of the Board at the Research Triangle Foundation and General Partner of Hatteras Venture Partners. Married to his wife Jeanie, for more than 50 years, he credits her for a large part of their success. They have three sons and several grandchildren, all of whom share his passion for Porsche.

He, and his family, own one of the most prestigious Porsche collections in the world, The Ingram Collection. It’s located in Durham and plays host to many private events and automotive enthusiasts. This past year, they were honored to be invited guests to join Porsche at Le Mans. Bob works tirelessly to promote the importance of preserving these works of art and even contributed some of the collection to the North Carolina Museum of Art for a recent display; Porsche by Design.

Further showing his commitment, Bob will be bringing a few of the Collections most prized possessions for display during the weekend. It will be something not to be missed!

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will make its only stop in the Mid-Atlantic at VIRginia International Raceway Aug. 22-24. In addition to the event’s feature race, the Oak Tree Grand Prix, the weekend will showcase races from several support series including the Continental SportsCar Challenge, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Cooper Tire Prototype Lites and Maserati Trofeo World Series.

Additional festivities will happen throughout the three-day event including car corrals, driver autograph sessions, team/driver chats and tech talks, a pre-race grid walk and open victory podium. Away from the track, try out the 5/8 mile kart track, restaurant, pub and spa services, all on-site!

Fans can purchase advanced tickets at virnow.com/ or at the VIR box office. Prices are $90 for a three-day ticket, $80 for a two-day ticket for Saturday and Sunday, $70 for a ticket to Sunday only, $50 for a ticket to Saturday only. All tickets purchased at the gate on race day cost an additional $10.
