Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America To Race At VIR;

Mazda Prototype Lites To Contest Three Rounds At Watkins Glen, Laguna Seca

Grand Prix of Boston Cancellation Forces Schedule Changes For IMSA-Sanctioned Series

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 2, 2016) – The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) has changed the venues for upcoming rounds of two of its sanctioned series, Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America and Mazda Prototype Lites Presented by Cooper Tires, after the cancellation of the Grand Prix of Boston.

Rounds 7 and 8 of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America are rescheduled to Aug. 26-28 during the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin GT Challenge at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, Virginia. Those races originally were scheduled for the event Sept. 2-4 in Boston, which was canceled in May.

Tentatively, an additional round for the Mazda Prototype Lites Presented by Cooper Tires will be added to the series’ event weekends at Watkins Glen International and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, replacing the rounds scheduled for Aug. 26-28 at VIR.

Three rounds of Mazda Prototype Lites Presented by Cooper Tires are expected to take place June 30-July 2 during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen in Watkins Glen, New York, and Sept. 9-11 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. Confirmation of both events is expected shortly.

“We are grateful to our manufacturer and promoter partners, as well as our Mazda Prototype Lites Presented by Cooper Tires and Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America teams for their flexibility and support under challenging circumstances,” said IMSA Vice President, Marketing David Pettit. “It is never ideal to deviate from our announced race schedules, but the cancellation of the Grand Prix of Boston put us in a position where these changes were necessary.”

The next event for both the Mazda Prototype Lites Presented by Cooper Tires and the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America is June 30-July 2 at Watkins Glen International.
