Historic Charm in Every Bite
Make your trip to VIR complete with dinner at Oak Tree Tavern, located in a beautifully restored 1800s plantation house. Enjoy a fantastic meal in the dining room or relax with a drink and appetizer in Connie’s Pub. When the weather is warm, seating is available on the deck with a stunning view of the rolling countryside.
The Original Architecture in the plantation house, now known as The Oak Tree Tavern, was the work of Thomas Day, an American furniture craftsman and cabinetmaker in Milton, Caswell County, North Carolina. Born into a free Black family in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, Day moved to Milton in 1817 and became a highly successful businessman, boasting the largest and most productive workshop in the state during the 1850s. Day catered to upper-class white clientele and was respected among his peers for his craftsmanship and work ethic.
