Industry leading global technology company adds Official Tire to Collaboration
Danville, Virginia – Aug. 27, 2017 – VIRginia International Raceway today announced an expanded partnership with Michelin. In 2018 the global technology company will return as title sponsor of the Michelin GT Challenge as well as becoming the official tire of VIR.
The announcement was made by Sarah Robinson, motorsports marketing manager, Michelin North America, prior to the start of Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at VIR. The race is one of two GT exclusive events on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series. “The combination of the challenging VIR circuit, great staff and enthusiastic fans have made The Michelin GT Challenge at VIR one of the favorite places for everyone involved,” said Robinson.
“Our VIR team and fans are delighted to welcome Michelin as the official tire of VIRginia International Raceway and to continue the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR,” said Connie Nyholm, owner and CEO, VIRginia International Raceway.
In addition to a full schedule of events, VIR is often used by Michelin and WeatherTech Championship teams and manufacturers for testing and development of both race and production tires and vehicles.
