Know what to do in the event of a storm or inclement weather while you’re visiting! We’re here to make your VIR Experience positive even if the clouds roll in.
Please be aware that in the event of severe weather, tents, awnings other shelters may not be adequate protection. Remember safety is a personal responsibility, please have a plan.
The quickest way to get current announcements for any event is to download our VIR APP.
The VIR APP has all up to date information on events, and users can opt in for notifications and announcements in real time while on site.

In the event of a medical or life threatening emergency please dial 911.
VIR Security staff will be located all around property. If you need help with directions, parking, or lost and found find a staff member with VIR high visibility Security uniform.

Track activity or Events may be stopped at times due to adverse weather. The Manager on Duty may call to cease all outdoor activity and call in all staff when lightning strikes within 8-10 miles of the Facility. Outdoor activity may resume after the last reported lightning strike and the Manager on Duty gives the all-clear.
Lightning warnings will be announced via the VIR APP while on site.
Seek shelter immediately and if safe to do so return to your vehicle.

VIR is an outdoor venue with limited shelter space. Some covered areas are on site in the event of rain, but visitors are asked to seek shelter in their vehicles when possible.
In the event of possible severe weather, please keep up to date on our Local Weather Radar and Download our VIR APP to stay up to date on event announcements while on site.

Remain calm and proceed to your vehicle and follow any designate paved roads when possible by the direction of VIR or event staff and Security.
Event staff will guide your evacuation safely.
Air raid sirens will sound in the event of incoming weather and that they should seek shelter immediately.

VIR is a private facility and admission to the Property is permitted only with VIR’s consent. General public access is restricted at all times.
VIR reserves the right to require any person(s) that do not honor its policies to please excuse themselves from VIR Property.
Exclusion of a specific act or violation does not imply consent or approval on behalf of VIR. VIR reserves the right to declare an act or activity in violation of policy in the best interest of VIR.
