Operation Motorsport Announces the 2025 Veterans Race of Remembrance at VIRginia International Raceway

Raleigh, North Carolina, [July 19, 2024] – Operation Motorsport in conjunction with the United States Auto Club (USAC) and VIRginia International Raceway, are excited to announce the inaugural Veterans Race of Remembrance, set to take place over Veterans Day weekend, November 7-9, 2025, at VIRginia International Raceway. This USAC-sanctioned event is poised to become a fixture of the North American motorsport calendar, drawing top-tier drivers, teams, and cars to conquer one of America’s most iconic road courses. Thousands of motorsport enthusiasts, active service members, and Veterans are expected to attend, making it a weekend to celebrate and remember.

“We are honored to be chosen as the home for Operation Motorsport Veterans Race of Remembrance for 2025 and beyond,” said Connie Nyholm, Co-owner and CEO of VIR. “We are strong supporters of our military so when this opportunity arose, we quickly said yes. We look forward to welcoming the fans, drivers, and teams to this special weekend honoring our veterans.”

The event weekend racing action will feature a 12 hr. multi-class endurance sportscar race, play host to a 100-minute CanAm Challenge featuring GT4/TCR machinery, and two rounds of a soon TBA single-make national series. Veteran-Focused Activities: In addition to the on-track excitement, the weekend will be filled with activities to honor our veterans and engage race fans alike.

“USAC is proud to be a part of such a historic and exciting first event in North America with the Veterans Race of Remembrance 2025.  We have a long, personal history with Tiffany and Diezel and have watched them grow the Operation Motorsport organization from a dream to a highly worthy effort.  We have the honor of working with several of their Beneficiaries through our sanction and operation of SRO and embedded in the many teams that compete in our other racing partners.  Every one of the veterans in their program are highly regarded and sought after within the industry. Operation Motorsport has become in integral part of what we do, and we’re honored to participate in any way we can”

Operation Motorsport partner Michelin had this to say about the planned event, “Michelin aims for a better life in motion, which extends beyond traditional mobility,” said Jason Anzalone, Michelin North America motorsports director. “Michelin Motorsports is a proud supporter of Operation Motorsport, and we are thrilled to partner in the Veterans Race of Remembrance event being held at our partner track at VIR. The work done by Operation Motorsport allows meaningful opportunities within our community for those who have dedicated themselves to the service of our countries. Michelin is proud to support and walk beside Operation Motorsport in this effort.”

Operation Motorsport CEO Diezel Lodder stated, “Operation Motorsport has provided recovery opportunities for medically retired Service men and women through motorsports for seven years.  It has long been our dream to organize a Veterans Race of Remembrance.  Thanks to our partners and the North American racing community, I am thrilled that the first race of its kind will happen on Veterans Day weekend 2025 at VIRginia International Raceway.”

Since our inaugural season in 2021, FEL Motorsports has proudly partnered with Operation Motorsport to introduce Canadian beneficiaries to the thrilling world of motorsport through the Sports Car Championship Canada and Radical Cup Canada,” said Chris Bye, President of FEL Motorsports. “As passionate supporters of this veteran-focused organization, we are beyond thrilled to be part of this first-of-its-kind event in North America. The Can-Am challenge adds an exciting new dimension, bringing together drivers, teams, and fans in a spirited, friendly competition between neighbors. This is motorsport at its finest!”
