Richmond, Virginia – The Cameron K. Gallagher (CKG) Foundation is the beneficiary of a new Pro-Am Karting event October 7, 2021, at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, Virginia.  The event, named Karting for CKG is pre-cursor to International Motor Sports Association’s (IMSA) Michelin GT Challenge taking place at VIR October 8 to 10, 2021.

Karting for CKG supports CKG Foundation’s mission to erase teen mental health stigma with free mental wellness education and skill-building. Professional drivers Patrick Long, Andrew Davis, Ryan Eversley, Andy Lally, Katherine Legge, Tom Long, David Murry, Dylan Murry, Bryan Sellers, Owen Trinkler and Jordan Taylor have all graciously offered to participate.

Teams comprised of one professional driver and three amateur drivers will compete for the fastest times around the VIR Kart Track, a state-of-the-art 5/8 mile, 24-foot-wide paved circuit. The karts run ungoverned Honda GX 270cc motors capable of speeds in excess of 50 mph, a top speed for go-karts.

CKG Foundation Executive Director, Grace Gallagher, says, “We are so grateful to VIR, Sandy Wiggins, of ACG Wealth Management and our other Board members for their generosity of time, talent, and treasure to organize this exciting inaugural event.  It’s inspiring to witness their unwavering support to make Cameron’s dream come true. We are thrilled to bring our message of support and hope through education and conversation to this unique venue.”

VIR President and COO, Kerrigan Smith, says, “It is an honor for VIR to work with CKG to help get this critical and relevant message out to those who need the support systems that CKG offers for our youth as they try to navigate these unprecedented times.”
