VIR Club members have access to expert driver coaching to improve their racing techniques, from basic skills to advanced performance driving. 2 instructors are provided free of charge at each member day. Learning a new skill isn’t just about acquiring knowledge, it’s about growth and exploration too!

Members have exclusive access to 18 member driving days per year, ensuring plenty of opportunities to refine their skills without the pressure of public track days. The VIR Club offers run groups for those new to tracking to the most experienced of drivers.

Basic highway safety equipment on your vehicle. An SA15 helmet or newer is required on track. Roll bars are needed on convertibles.
VIR Club offers 5 run groups for drivers of all skill levels! Take a look to see which one will fit you:
TOURING LITES:
This is our novice group. Consists of paced, speed-restricted track sessions with no passing for drivers. Classroom sessions are included by the VIR Club Chief Driving Instructor. Convertibles without roll bars are allowed. Students may advance into Touring on the Full Course with permission of the Chief Instructor and VIR Staff. The driver must also hire a coach if they would like to move up to the Full Course.
TOURING:
Consists of non-paced sessions with passing permitted after receiving a point-by from the driver to be passed. Drivers should have previous on track solo experience, with excellent awareness and flag knowledge. Group average lap times on Full Course are 2:10-2:20
HIGH SPEED:
Consists of non-paced sessions with passing permitted after receiving a point-by from the driver to be passed. This group is perfect for those who want to push their car and skills to the limit. Advanced level drivers with previous experience at VIR. Group average lap times on Full Course are 2:00-2:10
OPEN WHEEL / SPORTS RACER:
Consists of non-paced sessions with passing permitted after receiving a point-by from the driver to be passed. This group includes all formula, open-wheel, and sports racing cars.
RACECAR:
Consists of open passing sessions with no point-by required. Highly experienced drivers and licensed racers. All cars are required to have a 5 point driver harness and 4 point roll bar. Drivers and passengers will need a full race suit. Group average lap times on Full Course are 1:50-2:00
Of course! We offer a group for novices that builds their skills with our Chief Driving Instructor in the classroom and on track. Every level can enjoy their time driving and learning at VIR!
Each group gets 4 sessions on each Club day (excluding Touring Lites – 2 morning sessions but can advance groups if approved by the Chief Driving Instructor.)
All convertible Vehicles must be equipped with a fixed roll bar. Any convertible that does not have a fixed roll bar will not be allowed in a passing group and will have to be in a run group that is controlled by a pace and chase car. NOTE: Many manufacturers’ roll hoops or roll bars designed for street use (non-racing), as well as roll bars that terminate below the top of the Operator’s or any passengers’ helmets, shall not be approved. Factory or aftermarket hard tops with the absence of a roll cage or a harness bar on a convertible are not considered to be roll over protection.
VIR Club offers options to take part in Club days at Road Atlanta and New Jersey Motorsports Park so the perks don’t have to end when you leave the track (not that you’ll want to, though!)
