Alton, Va. – Dec. 6, 2022 – VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) is preparing for the New Year with the release of its action-packed 2023 schedule of motorsports events. Kicking off in April, the schedule features exciting opportunities for fans to witness some of the most talented drivers and impressive cars tackle the challenging turns and famous “climbing esses” on one of America’s premier road courses.

Headlining the 2023 racing season is the return of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, including the featured Michelin GT Challenge race, Aug. 25-27. The weekend will include both GTD Pro and GTD Am classes with some of the most recognizable manufacturers involved, spicing up the featured event. The following support series/races are also scheduled to appear: Michelin Pilot Challenge, VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup and Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

In addition to the headlining series, the 2023 racing schedule also includes: Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour (April 7-9), HyperFest presented by Grassroots Motorsports (May 19-21), Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS (June 16-18), SCCA National Championship Runoffs (Sept. 22-Oct. 1) and SVRA Speed Tour (Oct. 5-8).  The season culminates Nov. 10 with Charity Laps, a chance for amateur drivers to test their skills on the world-famous, 3.27-mile VIR full course with a small donation. All proceeds from Charity Laps benefit Victory Junction, a camp for chronically ill children started by NASCAR’s Petty family.

“In 2022, we were able to really show our range, whether it was the highest level of professional racing, competitive amateur racing or a lively rock festival,” said Connie Nyholm, co-owner and CEO of VIR. “We showed how much VIR is capable of and how it can appeal to so many different people. We’re excited and eager to push the envelope even further in 2023 and bring some of the best in motorsports and beyond to one of America’s favorite road courses.”

Tickets will officially go on sale in early January. Many events will have advanced tickets available for purchase on the VIR website and/or at the VIR Ticket Office and all events will have tickets available for purchase on-site at the VIR Ticket Office during the dates of the actual event.
