Virginia International Raceway Included in Virginia Motorsports Heritage Trail

Alton, VA – Virginia International Raceway (VIR) has been included in the newly created Virginia Motorsports Heritage Trail, a major tourism development project created by Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) to connect travelers to the rich and vibrant racing history throughout Virginia.

The trail offers visitors a way to enjoy Virginia’s numerous racing destinations and see where some of the greatest NASCAR drivers compete, explore the influential people in racing, and virtually visit historic and current tracks across Virginia.

“We are very excited to be a part of the Virginia Motorsport Heritage Trail. With the deep racing history throughout the state, it makes perfect sense to have all the information in one location for race fans from near and far,” said Connie Nyholm, owner and CEO of VIR.

“With about 20 tracks across the Commonwealth, fans can attend events almost any weekend of the year,” said Rita McClenny, President and CEO of Virginia Tourism Corporation. “The Virginia Motorsports Heritage Trail will allow travelers to experience the state in a new way by exploring the history behind the heart-pounding action fans experience.”
